The client wanted something dramatic, modern and innovative for their house, situated close to Richmond Park. The end result is a home full of light, large spaces and inventive forms. The client delighted in the design process, allowing us to work with them to push the boundaries. The house was reduced to a partial shell and every part and detail was designed and built from new. A cantilevered walnut, stainless steel and glass stair rises 4 floors, built off an innovative steel space frame core. A large basement was installed below the house and part of the garden with glass floors above, and the ground floor lowered to create impressive volumns throughout. In conjunction with careful attention to detail a gallery effect has been created, complimenting the clients artwork and furniture, but the large spaces have a deep sense of calm, and there is a real feeling of intimacy and warmth throughout the house.
